Hourly Position
Requirements: Must hold an Experienced Underground Miner Certification. Must hold a Federal and Indiana State Electrical Certification. Five (5) years' experience as an underground Mechanic. Must be familiar with Joy 14CM15 Miners, Fletcher Roof Ranger II Roof Bolters, VFD Shuttle Cars. Must be willing to work weekends as necessary to perform maintenance requirements.
Reports to: Maintenance Foreman
The essential functions of this position were determined to be but not limited to:
1. Perform emergency and preventive maintenance, including electrical and hydraulic troubleshooting, and repair/replacement of component parts, on all production and support equipment.
2. Perform preventive maintenance on production equipment, i.e., greasing, fluid checks, oil and filter changes, etc.
3. Perform permissibility testing.
4. Welding and acetylene torch cutting repair and mechanical fabricating.
5. Splicing equipment cables as needed, wire belt drives and started boxes.
6. Other duties may be required as assigned by the Maintenance Foreman or the Mine Foreman.
Work Objectives: To maintain and repair underground mining equipment and machinery.
Work Schedule: Will work five (5) days, Monday through Friday. Periodically, miners will be required to work a sixth (6th) day on Saturday. Shifts will rotate between days and seconds. Overtime may be required by the maintenance foreman or the mine foreman.
Mechanics may work as a Unit Mechanic (working with the unit at the face; taking care of emergency repairs and maintenance), a Rover Mechanic (working away from the face on equipment) or a Diesel Mechanic (working primarily on the diesel equipment).
Position Summary: Employee must be able to read and interpret mechanical, electrical and hydraulic prints. Must be able to lift 50 to 100 pounds regularly. Operate equipment and use various hand tools including hammers, knives, etc. as required. Work closely with others in a team effort.
